Jingle Jamboree Fri-Sun, Dec 13-15 6am to 9pm at the IU Natatorium

The IU Natatorium will be hosting this pre-holiday celebration of fast swimming and fun for its third year. Approximately 800 swimmers from across the Midwest will be competing in this meet. The Jingle Jamboree is a 2.5-day, timed finals, short course competition that will be contested in two 25-yard pools. Volunteers are now being recruited for a variety of positions. All volunteers are asked to register for at least two (2) shifts throughout the course of the weekend. All volunteers receive complimentary parking and complimentary meals during their volunteer shifts plus the opportunity to work alongside some of the best volunteers in the country.

Volunteer Elves are needed at the YMCA to assist families from social service organizations to have Breakfast with Santa. After an enjoyable breakfast, grown-ups get to shop for presents for the kiddos (stockings, books, and toys), while the kiddos enjoy some entertainment (magic, face painting, balloon artists, and glitter tattoos) and get to shop for presents for a grown-up in their life, and everyone gets to visit with Santa!

The Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse & Suicide was founded in 2001 with the sole focus to prevent abuse or suicide from ever happening to the youth in our communities. We provide evidence-based programming to educate youth and adults and empower them to recognize, react, and find the appropriate resources available for help. We offer five programs that support our mission and work towards a day when there will be no more abuse and lives are saved. Volunteer opportunities include Child Safety Education Specialist, packet making in office, and data entry.

Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure - Nov.16th thru Jan 20th at the Eiteljorg

Jingle Rails is a whimsical model railroad featuring nine G-scale electric trains that ramble over trestles and through tunnels along more than 1,200 feet of track. Trains wind past woodsy, artistic representations of the skyline of Downtown Indianapolis and landmarks of the American West, all made from natural materials. Volunteers are needed to staff the exhibit over the next three months. This exhibit is almost ENTIRELY volunteer run!

Everyday, Marion County children attend class without the most basic supplies they need to get a good education. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much-needed supplies out of their own pocket.

Teachers’ Treasures helps fill this need by operating a volunteer-based “Store for Teachers.” Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students. Safe Park Indy is a citizen-led, grassroots initiative to provide safe overnight parking, basic amenities and a connection to social services for the unsheltered in Indianapolis living in their cars. About 60 Artist Sale Assistants are needed on Sept 7th from 4pm to 7:30pm. Currently in its 19th year, Quest for the West Art Show and Sale brings together 50 contemporary Western artists, collectors, volunteers, and Western art enthusiasts from across the country for a weekend of programming that includes the museum’s largest annual fundraiser.

DNR State Fair Fishin' Pond Aug 2nd thru 18th shifts 9:30a-7:30p at the Indiana State Fair

Fishing Volunteers Needed! Spend of a few hours helping children learn about the joy of catching fish. The DNR State Fishin’ Pond, started in 2006, gives children ages 5-17 the chance to fish for free during the State Fair. Each year, thousands of kids fish at the pond. For many of them, it is their first fishing experience.

IU Health Momentum Indy is a two-day cycling celebration of bike races, bike rides, food, music, and family festivities in downtown Indy. Serving as the 5th race of the American Criterium Cup, professional cyclists will give it their all to take the podium! Volunteers are essential in providing a safe, well-organized, and fun event experience. It takes hundreds of volunteers to ensure the safety and organization behind the IU Health Momentum Indy.

Big Bounce America - Fri, 7/19 thru Sun, 7/21, Shifts 8:30 to 4pm in Southeast Indy

The event features ‘The World’s Largest Bounce House’ and seven massive inflatable attractions. Covering an area of over 24,000 sq. ft., it has giant slides, ball pits, climbing towers and basketball hoops. Volunteers work alongside crew members to assist with check-in, pumping up the crowd, staffing the inflatables and overseeing the safety of participants. In return for a 4 hour shift volunteers receive 3 ‘Access All Areas’ passes to enjoy with family and friends.

Trail Building with Hoosier Hikers Council

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. Since 1995 the Hoosier Hikers Council has been building, repairing, and maintaining hiking trails in the state of Indiana. Join the Hoosier Hikers Council on the third of each month (through December) to support The Nature Conservancy for a day in the woods! They will continue work on the new trail at TNC’s Green’s Bluff Nature Preserve in Owen County.

Indianapolis Animal Care Services

Our dedicated team of volunteers come in weekly to care for hundreds of animals. In 2023 alone, volunteers donated over 23,500 hours; but more help is desperately needed. Some examples of volunteer opportunities include walking dogs, caring for cats, providing enrichment for cats and dogs, participating in our “Doggy Day Out” program, staffing events, supporting medical, and taking animal photos.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana

At Ronald McDonald House Charities of Indiana, we provide a supportive home away from home for families of children receiving medical care at Riley Children’s Health and other area hospitals. When families have a sick child, we provide comfort, care and kindness when they need it most. Our House provides all the comforts of home, plus a community of support, and our Family Rooms are places for families to rest during the long days of testing or treatment. We offer volunteer opportunities for individuals as well as groups. You can volunteer one-time or on an on-going basis. The volunteer services that are needed most include guest services and culinary crew volunteers.

32nd Annual Eiteljorg Indian Market and Festival – June 22nd and June 23rd

At the annual Indian Market and Festival, we host over 150 Indigenous artists from all over the US and Canada to sell their art, pottery, jewelry, etc! There’s also food trucks, performances, and art activities! There is a mandatory training you must attend if you would like to volunteer at the market. The mandatory training falls on Thursday, June 13, there is an afternoon option (12:30-1:30pm) and an evening option (5:30-6:30pm).

Prism Project Summer Camp at the Center for Performing Arts

The Prism Project is a performing arts program developed by Ball State University and designed to be physically, developmentally and cognitively appropriate for youth with disabilities. The program is a four-week camp culminating in a final performance. In 2024, this performance will take place Sunday, June 23, in the Studio Theater at the Center for the Performing Arts. We are looking for volunteers to serve as “Buddies” during the camp.

Indiana Wish

The mission of Indiana Wish is to grant wishes to Indiana children ages 3 – 18 diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. At Indiana Wish, we create hope amid hardship. Hope can be a powerful force in the health and healing of the children we serve. Research studies have shown that children who have received wishes have less distress, fewer episodes of depression, and reduced anxiety. All of this, in turn, can improve their quality of life, foster hope and resilience, and potentially lead to better health outcomes.

Indiana Wish is an Indiana-focused wish-granting organization. Since 1984, we have granted more than 3,500 wishes to Hoosier children in 88 of Indiana’s 92 counties. Indiana Wish is not affiliated with any other local or national wish-granting organization. Funding for wishes is made possible through the support of individual giving, corporate partnerships, and fundraising events. Working together, we can impact even more Hoosier children and families throughout Indiana.

Indianapolis 5K & Monumental Mile - Sat. Jun 22 - 5:30am to 1pm shifts - near Indiana State House

Volunteers are needed for the 2nd annual 5K and 11th annual Monumental Mile. The 5k course is 3.1 miles long and includes the Indiana War Memorial, Indianapolis Central Library, and University Park.

The Monumental Mile includes a Youth & High School Mile, Masters Mile, Open Mile, Elite Female Mile, and Elite Male Mile. The Monumental Mile also includes a Doggie Dash that benefits Indianapolis Animal Care.

IndyFringe: Live at the Purple Lounge - May 16th thru 25th

Volunteer Ushers and Bartenders needed.  Live at the Purple Lounge pulls back the curtain on the lives of five women stand-up comedians in varying stages of their careers. In the green room of the infamous “Purple Lounge” comedy club, relationships are tested, love is lost and found, and sacrifices are made as the play examines the humorous and not-so-humorous moments of five extraordinary women trying to make it in the cutthroat world of stand-up comedy. Content Advisory: This production contains sexual language, some nudity, and depictions of drug use (including cigarettes and alcohol). It is recommended for audiences 18+.

Earth Day Indiana Festival, June 1st 7am-7pm shifts at Garfield Park

Calling all Ambassadors! Volunteers are needed to help with tents at the Earth Day Indiana (EDI) Annual Festival!

The Indianapolis Ambassadors will have a large presence to support EDI and their mission to “promote environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, and sustainable living.”

Every year, we volunteer for this this event. It is the only planned, in-person recruiting opportunity that we pursue.

Spark!Fishers Festival - June 25th thru 29th - Downtown Fishers

Spark!Fishers is an annual, weeklong festival. It includes a 5k run/walk and kids fun run, Car & Art Show, free concerts on Tuesday night and Friday night, and Saturday’s Street Festival – the biggest day of the week – with a parade, multiple stages of live music, food, drink, and artisan vendors, art displays, kids and teen zones, and so much more! Spark!Fishers offers more than 100 volunteer opportunities, providing a role to fit every interest and ability.

Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art

The Eiteljorg houses an extensive collection of visual arts by indigenous peoples of the Americas, as well as Western art. The museum offers a fascinating exploration of Native American history, culture, and the American West through its diverse collection of art and cultural objects. Volunteers become part of the Eiteljorg team and help enhance programs, events, and exhibitions. When you become a volunteer, you can expect to meet visitors from all over.

The Indy Film Fest is looking for volunteers to help patrons, filmmakers, and other guests attending the 21st Indy Film Fest’s in-person events. All volunteers get an exclusive Indy Film Fest volunteer t-shirt, plus tickets to see films and merchandise.

Mutt Cup: an annual craft cocktail competition hosted by and benefitting FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic Thur. Apr 25th 5-8pm at the Biltwell Event Center

The Mutt Cup started in 2014 to raise money for local Indianapolis Animal Shelters and Clinics, and now funds FACE Animal Clinic. 3-4 volunteers are needed to be primarily runners or greeters directing attendees the proper way, or assisting the check-in table.

Volunteers are needed to support the New Pirate Cat 5K. A Super Fun 5K that starts at Half Liter BBQ and routes on the Fast/Flat Monon Trail and finish with a Nice Cold Pirate Cat Porter all while supporting the FACE Low-Cost Animal Clinic!

Annual JDRF Hope Gala Sat., May 11th, 5-11pm at the JW Marriot

JDRF is the leading global organization harnessing the power of research, advocacy, and community engagement to advance life-changing breakthroughs for type 1 diabetes (T1D). The annual JDRF Hope Gala brings together the diabetes community for an unforgettable evening featuring an expansive silent auction, one-of-a-kind live auction, seated dinner, live entertainment, and a night of fundraising all in support of JDRF. A pizza dinner is provided for all volunteers and the cost of parking at the JW Marriot is covered as space allows. "It is going to be a fun night! We have some great entertainment – Dave and Rae and the Bluewater Kings Band."

AES 500 Festival Parade - Sat, May 25 - Downtown Indianapolis

The AES 500 Festival Parade is one of the largest in the country and is considered one of the top three parades in the United States, along with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade.

Bike to the 500 - Sunday, May 26, Shifts 5:15am-5:30pm at the Amp at 16

The greatest way to get to the Greatest Spectacle in Racing is by riding a bike to the 500. We need volunteers to help with setup, check in, ride marshaling, valet bike parking, and leading the return rides. Please help so we can continue this exciting event.
