Big Ten Rowing Championships

May 14, 2026, 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM

presented by Indianapolis Rowing Center

The Big Ten Rowing Championships brings together some of the top collegiate rowing teams in the country for a full day of high-level competition on the water. Crews from universities across the Big Ten Conference race in multiple events ranging from single boats to large eight-person shells, competing for conference titles and national rankings.

For volunteers who may be new to rowing, the sport combines teamwork, endurance, timing, and precision. Boats race side-by-side over a marked course, with athletes rowing in synchronization while a coxswain steers and directs the crew. Races are fast-paced and spectators can expect exciting finishes and a strong team atmosphere throughout the event.

Volunteers play a critical role in helping the championships run smoothly. Opportunities include athlete and referee hospitality, parking and transportation coordination, timing and results support, and general event logistics. No prior rowing experience is required for most positions—training and guidance are provided onsite.

The championships offer a chance to be part of a major collegiate sporting event while supporting student-athletes from across the Midwest and beyond. Volunteers often enjoy close access to the competition, beautiful waterfront scenery, and the unique energy of a championship regatta. Whether you are a sports fan, community supporter, or simply looking for a rewarding volunteer experience, the Big Ten Rowing Championships provide an exciting and memorable opportunity.

We don’t have a set age restriction for volunteers, but most positions are best suited for teenagers and above.

Details about park entrance, parking, and job specific duties will be sent 2 days before the event.
