Headless Horsemen Festival
Hello Ambassadors! Can you feel it? Fall is in the air! Not only cool, crisp weather, it brings one of the busiest months for volunteering. There are many options you can check out below or on our website.
One of the most unique opportunities is to volunteer for the Headless Horseman Festival. Sixteen nights from 5 to 10 pm, Connor Prairie hosts a wonderful event, filled with storytelling, music and magic. The prime event of the evening is the Haunted Hayride into Sleepy Hollow, where you might just encounter the Headless Horseman as it gallops through town.
This event is one of my fall favorites. If you volunteer, you might just escape the wrath of the Headless Horseman and have a lot of fun! Wishing you all a spooktacular month!

Celebrate Science Indiana at the Fairgrounds, Sat Oct 10th 9:30am-5:00pm, Indiana State Fairgrounds

Expo Volunteers Needed. Want to witness first-hand the eyes of children light up as they perform hands-on science? Celebrate Science Indiana (CSI) needs YOUR help! Indiana’s Premiere Science Festival, Celebrate Science Indiana, is taking place in the Exposition Hall at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
Science has a unique ability to inspire wonder, curiosity, and innovation. The festival aims to highlight the importance and value of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, research, and careers to our Indiana youth and all Hoosiers.
Eiteljorg: Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Mon Oct 12th 10:00am-5:00pm, Eiteljorg Museum

Join us in honoring Indigenous cultures and histories by volunteering to help the Eiteljorg Museum with their Indigenous Peoples’ Day Community Celebration! This special day is filled with vibrant performances, hands-on activities, and opportunities for learning—and we need your help to make it all happen. Volunteers play a vital role in creating a welcoming and engaging experience for all visitors.
Whether you’re greeting guests, assisting with cultural demonstrations, or helping with children’s crafts, your time and energy will help celebrate and uplift Native voices. No prior experience is needed—just a positive attitude and a willingness to support Indigenous communities and education.
IA General Meeting: Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Wed Oct 14th 6:00-8:00pm, Indianapolis Cultural Trail Headquarters

The Indianapolis Ambassadors will revisit Indy’s Cultural Trail to see their expanded office and learn about their updated volunteer programs.
Jillian Pierce, Volunteer Coordinator will enlighten us on the significance of Indy’s Cultural Trail and of ways that we can contribute as volunteers to this jewel of the city. The office is at 132 W. Walnut St.
The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is an 8-mile world class urban bike and pedestrian path in downtown Indianapolis. The trail seamlessly connects neighborhoods, cultural districts and entertainment amenities while serving as the downtown hub for central Indiana’s vast greenway system.
After the meeting, there will be a short walking tour along the Cultural Trail. There are benches along the route, if needed. Come learn how our Cultural Trail has helped make Indianapolis a preferred destination city for many tour companies.
There is ample paid street parking on Capitol Ave., and the Scottish Rite Cathedral has permitted us to use the North end of their parking lot.
All are welcome!
