SUMMARY:Summer Peace Camp 2026
DESCRIPTION:Camp Support Volunteer Peace Learning Center | Indianapolis\, IN \nAbout the Role \nSummer Peace Camp is a six-week day camp grounded in social emotional learning\, restorative practices\, and community building for youth ages 6–18. We are seeking reliable weekly volunteers to provide hands-on support during two high-need windows of the camp day\, lunch and after care. This is a meaningful opportunity to contribute directly to a positive summer experience for Indianapolis youth. \nWhat You’ll Do \nLunch Support (between 11:30–1:30 PM) \n\nSupervise campers during lunch and the transition to recess or relaxation time\nSupport staff in maintaining a calm\, safe environment\nAssist with lunch distribution as needed\n\nAfter Care Support (between 4:00–6:30 PM) \n\nEngage directly with campers through games\, activities\, and conversation\nSupport a safe and welcoming after care environment\nVolunteers who prefer a behind-the-scenes role can assist with cleanup and next-day prep while staff engage with campers. Just let us know your preference\n\nTime Commitment \nVolunteers are needed Monday through Friday for one or more weeks during the camp season\, June 1st through July 24th. You may volunteer for one window or both. We can also accommodate varied schedules if you are unable to volunteer daily. \n\nLunch only: between 11:30–1:30 PM\nAfter care only: between 4:00–6:30 PM\nBoth windows: between 11:30–1:30 PM and between 4:00–6:30 PM\n\nWhat We’re Looking For \n\nReliable and punctual\, our campers and staff count on you being there\nComfortable working with children and youth in a structured setting\nAbility to take direction from camp staff\nEnthusiasm for PLC’s mission of peace\, community\, and social emotional learning\n\nRequirements \n\nMust be 18 or older\nBackground check required prior to first day\nOrientation session required before volunteering begins\n\nWhy Volunteer With Us \nPeace Learning Center has been building peace in the Indianapolis community for over 25 years. Volunteering at Summer Peace Camp puts you in the middle of that work — alongside dedicated staff and curious\, energetic young people who are learning what it means to be peacemakers.
