Register on Meetup and with Indiana Humanities\nLooking for proof that the Midwest is a great place to be a writer\, reader\, and lover of all things literary? Join Indiana Humanities on Oct. 10-11 for a second year of Proof: A Midwest Lit Fest\, celebrating the power of writing that grows in the Midwest. \nThis year’s festival will be bigger and better than ever. Like last year\, you can expect a book fair with local booksellers\, conversations about the literary Midwest\, local and regional author readings\, opportunities to connect with publishers and literary magazines\, and a local author mixer. \nTo fit in all this literary excitement\, Proof will begin on Fri.\, Oct. 10 with a keynote conversation between poets Bernardo Wade and Ross Gay. Throughout the weekend\, you can expect even more workshops led by experienced writers\, expanded hands-on bookish activities for all ages\, and activities for young readers\, along with food trucks\, music\, games\, and prizes. And\, as the sun sets on Saturday\, we’ll close our celebration with a rooftop open mic! \nProof is free and open to the public. \nVolunteer Details: \n\nApproximately 80 volunteers are needed\, spread between the two days (and a few pre-festival tasks that week) and including set-up and teardown.\nPositions include: Registration\, way-finding\, story-time assistance\, author assistance\, writing workshop assistance\, set-up\, teardown\, room monitoring\, parking assistance\, floaters. DESCRIPTION:Fridays thru Sundays\, Oct 10th thru 26th\nDecades is a cabaret musical that covers 175 years of American music from 1850 to 2025. It is a two-at musical\, and we are looking for adult volunteers to help hand out programs. The seating is general admission\, so we do not need ushers. Just need 2-3 people each performance to help hand out playbills. The shows are two hours long (including the 15-minute intermission.) Volunteers would need to be at McGowan Hall (1305 N. DESCRIPTION:All are invited monthly General Meeting of the Indianapolis Ambassadors.\nButler University offers a diverse range of programs and opportunities for staff\, faculty\, and students to learn and engage with the Indianapolis community in a responsible and mutually beneficial manner. \nWe’ll be meeting in Robertson Hall where we’ll be introduced to Butler’s Indianapolis Community Requirement\, a core curriculum requirement that mandates all students to participate in sustained community engagement as part of their coursework. We’ll have the opportunity to share about our organization and discuss potential collaborations . \nAs a special treat\, we’ll be spending an hour at the Holcomb Observatory and Planetarium. We’ll be given a tour\, shown a short movie\, and\, if the weather cooperates\, we’ll gaze into the depths of space through their mighty telescopes. \nSpace is limited. RSVP on Meetup today. If your plans changes\, please change your RSVP so others can come. \nAfterward\, the group is invited to join up for refreshments at our ‘Out After’ at Butler Chatham Tap — a short walk away. \nDon’t be late!!!!\nPlease arrive early to the Butler GM to ensure FREE parking and to start our fast paced evening on time. Set your GPS for Robertson Hall at Butler. It’s located on the northwest corner of the campus. Parking as the map reflects is free with no permit needed in designated areas. Visitor spaces are marked with a large bulldog on the pavement are located on the street in front of Robertson\, the driveways at Robertson and after 5pm in the lots in both sides of Robertson Hall. DESCRIPTION:Indiana University of Indianapolis 2025 Spirit & Place Festival\nNov 6th thru 16th\nAnnually\, the festival brings together 100+ cultural organizations\, congregations\, artists\, and other community partners to create 30+ events (exhibits\, performances\, panel discussions\, workshops\, and more) that inspire sustained conversation and reflection on a common theme. Volunteers are needed to serve as ambassadors for the festival.
