SUMMARY:Heroes Foundation: Indy Gives
DESCRIPTION:This is a micro volunteering event. Essentially\, micro volunteering provides short-term\, low-commitment opportunities as a way to engage more volunteers and create value. Micro-volunteering is built on the idea that people are more likely to volunteer if short and convenient assignments are offered. Indy Gives is an online fundraising competition organized by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine that will run Dec 2 through Dec 12. The Heroes Foundation is looking for 12 individual team captains (1 for each day of the campaign). Captains will be charged with sharing the social media posts provided by the Heroes Foundation and encouraging those they know who have been touched by a cancer diagnosis to make a contribution for support to patients\, cancer prevention\, research or greatest need. All who use social media can take part and may do so from anywhere. Team captains may be motivated to do this in honor of a survivor\, a patient or even in memory of a loved one who lost his/her battle. All proceeds stay in Indiana and go to support Hoosier patients of all ages\, gender\, race and ethnicities. The Heroes Foundation is cancer agnostic\, we simply exist to raise funds to fight ALL types of cancer! \nWe will provide all the tools and are seeking volunteer’s w/a passion for fighting cancer and the devastation it imposes.

DESCRIPTION:Volunteers Needed for the Angel Tree Toy Shop\nEvery Christmas there are children lacking life’s vital needs because their families are struggling financially and cannot afford the expense. As you can imagine\, it takes hundreds of volunteer hours to make Angel Tree Toy Shop happen each year. \nPlease consider joining us in one or more of the following roles: \n\norganize a toy drive\,\naccept gifts being dropped off at one of three locations\,\nhelp families complete their applications for assistance\,\ninventory and organize gifts during sorting days\, and\nhelp families select gifts when they come to shop on distribution day.\n\nDistribution will consist of a shopping experience where families will select gifts at either our Eagle Creek corps (4400 N. High School Rd.) or Fountain Square corps (1337 Shelby St.). Date and times below. \nWe welcome both individual volunteers and groups of volunteers (please note volunteers under 18 years of age must be with a parent/guardian/adult) to help us ensure a successful Angel Tree Toy Shop program at our Eagle Creek corps or Fountain Square corps. \n>>>> Registration is Required to Participate <<<<\n\nVolunteer Details:\n\nAngel Tree Toy Shop\nAt either:\n\nEagle Creek corp\n4400 N. SUMMARY:IU Natatorium: Jingle Jamboree
DESCRIPTION:Jingle Jamboree – Dec 13th thru 15th\nThe IU Natatorium will be hosting this pre-holiday celebration of fast swimming and fun for its third year from Friday through Sunday\, December 13 – 15. Approximately 800 swimmers from across the Midwest will be competing in this meet. \nThe Jingle Jamboree is a 2.5-day\, timed finals\, short course competition that will be contested in two 25-yard pools. Volunteers are now being recruited for a variety of positions. All volunteers are asked to register for at least two (2) shifts throughout the course of the weekend. Timers must be 14 years of age or older; all other volunteer positions require minimum ages of 18 or 21. SUMMARY:YMCA at the Athenaeum Breakfast with Santa
DESCRIPTION:Breakfast with Santa\, on Saturday December 14th\, is the biggest outreach event for the YMCA at the Athenaeum\nFamilies are invited to Breakfast with Santa from downtown shelters and organizations providing for our underserved neighbors. After an enjoyable breakfast\, grown-ups get to shop for presents for the kiddos (stockings\, books\, and toys)\, while the kiddos enjoy some entertainment (magic\, face painting\, balloon artists\, and glitter tattoos) and get to shop for presents for a grown-up in their life\, and everyone gets to visit with Santa! \n\nVolunteer Details:\n\nBreakfast with Santa\nYMCA @ the Athenaeum\n401 E. Michigan St.\nIndianapolis\, IN\, 46204\n(317) 685-9705\nhttps://indymca.org/athenaeum/\nMany volunteers are needed.\nPositions include:\n\nFamily Elf: You will be paired with a family to spend the morning with the kiddos\, play in Winter Wonderland\, help the kiddos shop for a present for a special adult in their life\, and help make the morning magical for everyone. Depending on the size of the family\, more than one elf may be paired together. Winter Wonderland will be in the same area as the breakfast and include face painting\, balloon artists\, glitter tattoos\, and a magic show! Volunteer ages 18+ only for this event.\nGreeter/Floater Elf: You will be placed in areas of greatest need\, which may change throughout the event.\nSanta’s Workshop Elf: You will help set up Santa’s Workshop\, which includes areas for stockings\, toys\, and books. You will help the grownups select toys\, wrap gifts\, and pack everything up. After the event\, you will help tear down the area.
