Volunteers are needed to help with the tubing hill\, assist with the concessions\, and help load and unload hayride passengers. \nDon’t miss out on your chance to be a part of this great annual event. Sign up quickly to get the best spots for your schedule and talents. All volunteers receive a light meal and 1 free ticket to attend another CP festival night\, just for fun\, each time they volunteer! \n>>>> Registration and Scheduling are Required to Participate <<<<\n\nVolunteer Details:\n\nHeadless Horseman\nConner Prairie\n13400 Allisonville Rd\nIndianapolis\, IN\, 46038\n(317) 766-6000\nhttps://www.connerprairie.org/\nMany volunteers are needed.\nPositions include:\n\nCONCESSIONS: assist staff in food tents\, giving purchases to guests. No taking orders or money is involved\, just running food and drinks. Give guests a gentle twist and push to start them down the slide. (5-10:00pm)\nHAYRIDE LOADING/UNLOADING: move stairs and direct guests as they board and exit the wagons. SUMMARY:Coats for Kids Set Up and Distribution at State Fairgrounds
DESCRIPTION:Coats for Kids distribution will be held on November 2 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion from 7am-1pm\, and is a partnership between The Salvation Army of Central Indiana with Classic Cleaners and WTHR. We need your help to make sure the families who bring their children will leave with a warm winter coat and winter accessories. \nWe invite you to assist us in one of the following volunteer positions: welcome and check in families\, restock coats and accessories\, shop with families for children to select a coat\, and assist with tear down at the end of the event. Volunteer shift times are approximately three hours between 7am and 3pm\, and we are looking for individuals/families/groups to come out and join us. Please note volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult\, and volunteers between 6-9 years old will be asked to help restock coats with their parent/guardian/adult. \nWe are also looking for volunteers to come out and help with set up at the state fairgrounds on October 30 from approximately 3-6pm\, October 31 between the hours of 9am-4pm\, and November 1 between the hours of 9am-4pm. Volunteer shift times are approximately three hours\, and we are looking for individuals/families/groups to come join us. Please note volunteers under 18 years of age much be accompanied by an adult\, and the minimum age to volunteer is six years old.

DESCRIPTION:Every Christmas there are children lacking life’s vital needs because their families are struggling financially and cannot afford the expense. As you can imagine\, it takes hundreds of volunteer hours to make Angel Tree happen each year. This year we are planning to host two Angel Tree components: one is Angel Tree Toy Shop for families to shop for gifts for their children\, and the other is Angel Tree bag distribution for families to pick up a variety of pre-selected gifts for their children. \nPlease consider joining us in one or more of the following roles:\n***organize a toy drive\n***accept gifts being dropped off at one of two locations\,\n***help families complete their applications for assistance\,\n***inventory and organize gifts during sorting days\,\n***help with set up and clean up\,\n***help families select gifts when they come to shop on distribution day\,\n***help families when they come to pick up their bag of gifts for their child. \nWe also have donation opportunities available to host a toy drive and/or sponsor a child with gift drop off available at either our main office in Castleton or our Eagle Creek Corps from November 4-December 6.

DESCRIPTION:A 2024 Spirit & Place Festival event\nWe are seeking volunteers to assist with a special event hosted by Peace Learning Center\, along with some community partners. We are seeking volunteers to aid with check in\, lead guided gratitude walks in Eagle Creek park or assist program leads or event attendees. The event will begin with attendees taking a guided gratitude walk after checking in. After all return to the building\, participants will participate in two of four program offerings. The choices include a poetry experience\, visual arts activity with ceramics\, music and movement\, and beginner yoga with a sound bath. SUMMARY:Trail Building with Hoosier Hikers Council
DESCRIPTION:The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive. Since 1995 the Hoosier Hikers Council has been building\, repairing\, and maintaining hiking trails in the state of Indiana. Join the Hoosier Hikers Council on the third of each month (through December) to support The Nature Conservancy for a day in the woods! They will continue work on the new trail at TNC’s Green’s Bluff Nature Preserve in Owen County. \nADDITIONAL DETAILS\n\nNo experience needed.\nAll tools and instructions are provided.\nThe terrain here is moderate.\nVolunteers should be comfortable with physical activity including bending\, shoveling\, raking and hiking.\nPlease go prepared with drinking water\, close-toed shoes and weather-appropriate layers.\n\nLET THEM KNOW IF YOU’LL BE JOINING!\nPlease RSVP to hoosierhikerscouncil@gmail.com to let them know that you’re coming to the workday so they can plan enough lunch for all the workers. Please be aware that they unfortunately don’t have the resources to accommodate special dietary needs such as vegetarian\, gluten-free\, etc. \nDIRECTIONS\nGreen’s Bluff is located west of Bloomington and south of McCormick’s Creek State Park in Owen County. Volunteers will be parking at a large powerline maintenance area that’s accessible from a smooth\, flat\, gravel driveway. To get to the worksite\, take W Porter Ridge Road west from State Road 43. There’s a double-decker bus parked at the intersection of SR 43 and Porter Ridge Road. Go west about 0.5 miles to Green’s Bluff Road\, a gravel road which will be on your right. Follow Green’s Bluff Road northwest for about 0.5 miles to Pawpaw Road\, which is also gravel. Bear left onto Pawpaw Road and go about 0.3 miles. Go past a No Trespassing sign on a wooden post to a driveway on your left that leads to a green gate. There will be white flagging tape at the driveway and on the gate. Go through the gate and follow the gravel driveway about 0.4 miles through the woods until you emerge onto a large\, flat parking area under the power lines.
