SUMMARY:Feast of Lanterns
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot the goes into making Feast of Lanterns possible every year. If you have an hour to hang lanterns or all day to lend a hand\, we could use your help! Tasks are simple\, the atmosphere fun\, and the work rewarding.\nThe Feast of Lanterns is a historic festival based on the Near Eastside of Indianapolis. Its earliest incarnations in the late 1800s were of small gatherings and decorated front porches in nearby neighborhoods like Woodruff Place. By 1909 these neighborhood events had morphed in to a single\, larger festival that took place in Spades Park. This year’s Feast of Lanterns\, hosted by Lanterns Foundation\, brings a refocus on the origins of the event\, local neighbors and neighborhoods working together to not only put on a festival but also to build community. \n>>>> Registration is Required to Volunteer for This Event! <<<<\n\nVolunteer Details:\n\nSpades Park\n1800 Nowland Ave\nIndianapolis\, IN 46204\nMany volunteers are needed\n\nDate(s) and Times:\n\nSaturday August 26th\n8am – 7pm\n\nVolunteer sign-up and training:\n\nEmail Martha at martha@indyfol.org\nOr sign up online.

SUMMARY:General Meeting at the National FFA Organization Headquarters
DESCRIPTION:The September General Meeting of the Indianapolis Ambassadors will be held September 4th at Headquarters of the National FFA Organization. Come learn the FFA and opportunities to volunteer.\nFFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education. The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. \nEvery year\, Indianapolis is honored to host more than 70\,000 high achievers and future leaders at the National FFA Convention & Expo. The National FFA Convention & Expo is an event that symbolizes the organization’s gold standards of excellence: premier leadership\, personal growth\, and career success. FFA members come together to share experiences\, compete for awards and\, most importantly\, learn and lead through unique activities such as career success and leadership seminars\, educational tours and interactive\, motivational speeches. \nThe need for volunteers is immense. Past Indianapolis Ambassadors President Larry Grider said\, “In all my interactions\, they’re great kids. One of their *edicts is\, when they leave a place\, they leave it better than when they arrived. Lots of cleanup projects going on all around Indy while they’re here.” \nAfter the general meeting\, attendees are invited to join us for a bite at Luciana’s Mexican Restaurant at Trader’s Point. Indianapolis Ambassadors President Michele Feld says\, “It is very close\, has excellent food and ambiance\, and is reasonably priced.” \nAll are welcome! SUMMARY:Eiteljorg Museum Quest for the West Art Show and Sale
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed for Quest for the West Art Show and Sale on September 6 & 7\, 2024!\nWhat is Quest for the West and what role do volunteers play? \nCurrently in its 19th year\, Quest for the West Art Show and Sale brings together 50 contemporary Western artists\, collectors\, volunteers\, and Western art enthusiasts from across the country for a weekend of programming that includes the museum’s largest annual fundraiser. Weekend activities include field trips to visit local collectors\, a reception in honor of the Quest Artist of Distinction\, a miniature art sale\, luncheon\, tours\, featured art sale\, banquet and awards ceremony\, and more!\nConsider volunteering for one of many opportunities leading up to and during the event\, including registration\, prepping bid boxes and materials\, assisting with the miniature sale\, art sale assistant during the featured art sale on Saturday night\, or helping with check out. Regardless of the position\, volunteers play a vital role in the success of the event…in other words; we could not do it without you! \nWhat’s in it for you? \nAs a volunteer during the main event on Saturday evening\, you will be assigned to one of the 50 artists in the show. This means you get the unique opportunity to meet\, talk with\, and represent one of the top Western artists in the country and rub shoulders with others. Many artists return year after year and appreciate the long-term friendships formed with patrons and volunteers during the weekend event. Likewise\, many volunteers return year after year and request to work with the same artist after hitting it off at Quest for the West or after admiring an artist’s work from afar. \nYour work also helps support the museum’s largest annual fundraiser\, which means we can continue to offer events and programs throughout the year that inspire and delight audiences of all ages and backgrounds. And\, after all is said and done on Saturday evening\, you can swap stories with fellow volunteers while enjoying a catered meal by Kahn’s Catering in the museum café. Of course\, you’ll also have our unwavering gratitude for sharing your time and talents in support of the event! \nVolunteer Positions\n\nArtist Sale Assistant\n\nVolunteers Needed\n\nabout 60\n\nRegistration Link\n\nhttps://signup.com/go/gcSwpwx\n\nRequired Training\n\nVolunteers are required to attend one of two mandatory trainings on 9/4 at 5:30 p.m. or 9/5 at 10:30 a.m.\n\nBackground Check\n\nRequired\n\nContact for Additional Questions\n\nAlisa Nordholt-Dean at anordholt-dean@eiteljorg.com\n\nVolunteer Benefits\n\nFree Entry to Event/Show\nMeal or Snacks\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nStanding\n\nDress Code\n\nbusiness casual\n\nParking Location\n\nPlease park in the White River State Park underground parking garage and follow the signs to the Eiteljorg Museum\n\nParking Instructions\n\nParking in the White River State Park garage will be validated
