SUMMARY:Big Ten Rowing Championships

Crews from universities across the Big Ten Conference race in multiple events ranging from single boats to large eight-person shells\, competing for conference titles and national rankings. \nFor volunteers who may be new to rowing\, the sport combines teamwork\, endurance\, timing\, and precision. Boats race side-by-side over a marked course\, with athletes rowing in synchronization while a coxswain steers and directs the crew. Races are fast-paced and spectators can expect exciting finishes and a strong team atmosphere throughout the event. \nVolunteers play a critical role in helping the championships run smoothly. Opportunities include athlete and referee hospitality\, parking and transportation coordination\, timing and results support\, and general event logistics. No prior rowing experience is required for most positions—training and guidance are provided onsite.  \nThe championships offer a chance to be part of a major collegiate sporting event while supporting student-athletes from across the Midwest and beyond. Volunteers often enjoy close access to the competition\, beautiful waterfront scenery\, and the unique energy of a championship regatta. Whether you are a sports fan\, community supporter\, or simply looking for a rewarding volunteer experience\, the Big Ten Rowing Championships provide an exciting and memorable opportunity. \nWe don’t have a set age restriction for volunteers\, but most positions are best suited for teenagers and above. \nDetails about park entrance\, parking\, and job specific duties will be sent 2 days before the event. \nVolunteer opportunities can be found in our linked Signup Genius page. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080948AAAA2EA46-62220956-bigten#/ \nPlease reach out to our volunteer coordinator\, Liz Butts\, at volunteer@indyrowing.org with any questions you might have.

SUMMARY:Indianapolis Summer Sprints Regatta
DESCRIPTION:We’re quickly approaching our final IRC-hosted regatta of the season! \nThis regatta welcomes masters rowers from all around the midwest for an exciting day of racing. \nThe Indy Summer Sprints Masters Regatta will take place on June 20. This one-day regatta offers both morning and afternoon volunteer shifts. You’ll notice some overlap between shifts to ensure all positions remain covered throughout the day. If you’re available for the full day\, don’t worry about the overlap—there will be time to take a break\, transition to a different role\, or return to your current assignment. \nOur highest priority need is launch drivers. We rely heavily on our coaches and masters rowers to fill these roles during regattas\, but many of them will be racing and/or coaching at Summer Sprints. If you are cleared to drive a launch\, please consider volunteering. If you know someone who is qualified to drive a launch but may not regularly see IRC communications\, please share the signup link with them. \nWe have many other volunteer opportunities available. Most positions require little to no prior experience\, and training will be provided. Please take a look through the signup and consider where your time and talents can make the biggest impact. Detailed descriptions of jobs/arrival/parking will be sent out around 2 days prior to the event. \nThere is no formal age requirement\, but most jobs are best for those above the age of 15. \nThank you in advance for helping make this regatta possible. We couldn’t do it without our volunteers. \nPlease email any questions to volunteer@indyrowing.org \nIndy Summer Sprints Masters Regatta \nJune 20\, 2026 \nHigh-Priority Needs \n– Launch Drivers \n-Car & Trailer Parking \n-Stakeboat Holders \nAdditional Volunteer Needs \n– Finish Tower \n– Recovery Docks \n– Start Timer \n– Tear Down \nVolunteer Signup: \nhttps://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080948AAAA2EA46-62431008-indy#/ \n
