This family favorite is\noffered five nights per week (Wednesday-Sunday) Oct. 6-Oct. 31 — including\nHalloween night! A special Zoo members preview is offered Oct. 4 and 5.\nVolunteer opportunities include:\n\nPumpkin School Assistant: Provide guests with an exciting experience that will showcase a fun science experiment! Pulse families into Pumpkin School to learn cool facts from Professor Pumpkin while maintaining one-way traffic.\n\nJack’s Barn Host: Welcome guests to Jack’s Barn. Monitor one-way traffic flow through building and keep an eye on the animals.\n\nMirror Maze Assistant: Encourage guests to use the back of their hands or elbows to navigate through a lighted a-maze-ing experience! Remind guests there are no strollers\, motorized carts\, or food/drink allowed in the maze.\n\nTrick or Treat Trail Assistant: Distribute treats or treat bags to young guests to put a smile on their face! Also offer allergy-free or non-food alternatives. Direct guests through the one-way Trick or Treat Trail path to create unforgettable memories while enjoying a sweet treat!\n\nFloater – Pumpkin Town: Oversee Pumpkin Town activities (Pumpkin School\, Jack’s Barn\, or Mirror Maze). Assist volunteers with breaks in these areas when needed. Answer any questions from guests when not providing breaks.\n\nEnrichment Craft Assistant: Monitor enrichment craft station while encouraging guests to make a\nfang-tastic enrichment craft that will be given to our animals. Collect paper chains to be transported to the animal care staff.\n\nBroomstick Alley Attendant: Welcome guests to Broomstick Alley for some wicked fun. Distribute a broom and kickball to each participant.\n*Please note: For all volunteer assignments\, please ensure guest and animal safety. \nVolunteer opportunities are available each day of the event. Shift times are 1:30-4:30/5:30pm\, 4-7pm or 5-9pm. For joining our event\, volunteers will receive two Zoo tickets as a thank-you!\nVolunteer attire for the event is a Zoo volunteer uniform or a solid-color shirt and khaki or black pants. All Volunteers will be given a ZooBoo-specific lanyard to wear and return at the end of their shift. Halloween costumes/accessories may not be worn by volunteers during the event. Your duties include standing at a table for 30-45 minutes at a time\, handing out packets to patrons\, answering questions\, and aiding patrons in signing up to sponsor a child. Volunteers must be available for volunteer training at 5:00pm. You are encouraged to arrive at Northview Church at 4:30pm to allow time for parking and to find the volunteer entrance. Volunteer opportunities are now available for this treasured family-friendly event. Christmas at the Zoo runs seven nights per week from Nov. 20-Dec. 30 (excluding Thanksgiving\, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)! Activities run 5-9pm and are open until 10pm on Friday and Saturday. Volunteer opportunities are available each night of the event! \nVolunteer opportunities include:\n• Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen Assistant: Encourage guests to participate in a cookie decorating activity with Mrs. Claus. Welcome guests into Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen\,\nassist with traffic flow and help keep space tidy.\n• Santa’s Barn Host: Welcome guests to Santa’s Barn by providing an engaging area to see Santa’s reindeer and sleigh. Monitor one-way-in and one-way-out flow of guests through the space. Provide a safe experience by ensuring guests are not climbing on Santa’s sleigh. Please dress to be outdoors.\n• Santa’s Study Assistant: Ensure guests have a memorable experience with Santa. Limit entry to one group at a time. Request guests to leave strollers outside. Monitor groups inside to ensure efficiency through the line. Encourage guests to purchase their photos with Santa at the kiosk outside in Santa’s Village. Help answer questions about visiting Santa.\n• Floater – Santa’s Village: Oversee Santa’s Village activities (Santa’s Study\, Santa’s Barn or Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen). Assist volunteers with breaks in these areas when needed. Answer any questions from guests when not providing breaks.\n• Campfire Monitor: Monitor the bonfire in a bonfire pit. Ensure a safe experience by keeping the fire at a safe level and knowing the locations of the firewood and extinguishers. All volunteers in this assignment must be at least 18 years of age. Long-term regular Zoo volunteers preferred.\n*Please note: For all volunteer assignments\, please ensure guest and animal safety.\nShift times vary based on the day of the week and other event needs. Most shifts are from 4:30-9pm Sunday-Thursday and 4:30-7:30pm or 7-10pm Friday-Saturday. \nVolunteer attire for the event is a Zoo volunteer uniform or a solid-color shirt and khaki or black pants. Most areas are outdoors\, so please dress weather appropriate — warm and comfortable shoes or boots\, layered clothing and warm accessories like hats\, gloves\, mittens\, scarves and even hand-warmers. All Volunteers will be given a Christmas at the Zoo-specific lanyard to wear and return at the end of their shift. Please be prepared to complete tasks outdoors in all weather conditions and follow appropriate social distancing measures. You can march in the parade\, then return to the Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library to party from 5:00pm – 7:00pm with an old-fashioned sing-along\, food and drinks. They are looking for volunteers to help with the party. The Kurt Vonnegut Museum & Library is located at 543 Indiana Ave\, Indianapolis\, IN.
