SUMMARY:General Meeting at the National FFA Organization Headquarters
DESCRIPTION:The September General Meeting of the Indianapolis Ambassadors will be held September 4th at Headquarters of the National FFA Organization. Come learn the FFA and opportunities to volunteer.\nFFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education. The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. \nEvery year\, Indianapolis is honored to host more than 70\,000 high achievers and future leaders at the National FFA Convention & Expo. The National FFA Convention & Expo is an event that symbolizes the organization’s gold standards of excellence: premier leadership\, personal growth\, and career success. FFA members come together to share experiences\, compete for awards and\, most importantly\, learn and lead through unique activities such as career success and leadership seminars\, educational tours and interactive\, motivational speeches. \nThe need for volunteers is immense. Past Indianapolis Ambassadors President Larry Grider said\, “In all my interactions\, they’re great kids. One of their *edicts is\, when they leave a place\, they leave it better than when they arrived. Lots of cleanup projects going on all around Indy while they’re here.” \nAfter the general meeting\, attendees are invited to join us for a bite at Luciana’s Mexican Restaurant at Trader’s Point. Indianapolis Ambassadors President Michele Feld says\, “It is very close\, has excellent food and ambiance\, and is reasonably priced.” \nAll are welcome! SUMMARY:The Salvation Army: 75th Celebration of the Harbor Light Center
DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to join the 75th celebration of the Harbor Light Center on September 14 at the Indiana War Memorial in downtown Indianapolis from 10am-4pm.   Everyone is welcome to attend the community event which includes vendors\, community resources\, food\, and activities for all ages. \nCelebrate with us as we feature inspiring testimonials from individuals who have successfully completed our program and showcase the remarkable achievements of our center.  Connect with a variety of community resources and enjoy a family friendly experience designed to support those struggling with substance use disorder and other addictions.  Don’t miss this opportunity to honor our past\, celebrate our present\, and support a brighter future for our community. \nWe are looking for volunteers to assist with set up\, distributing information\, monitoring activities\, clean up\, etc.  We have two volunteer shifts available with the first one from 8am-12:30pm\, and the second one from 12-5pm.  Please wear comfortable clothing\, water and snacks will be available\, and anyone volunteering under 18 years of age is asked to have an adult present at all times. \nIndividuals and groups are encouraged to create a volunteer account to sign up with us here https://app.betterimpact.com/Application?OrganizationGuid=dcb27a91-7853-4d24-a0cc-842968a20662&ApplicationFormNumber=1.  You may also contact Kathy with The Salvation Army for assistance creating an account to sign up at 317-224-1010 or kathy.dallacosta@usc.salvationarmy.org.
