  Who We Are
Indianapolis Ambassadors is a group of civic-minded individuals who share a goal of helping others and the community of Indianapolis through volunteerism, and of meeting new people with similar interests. We serve essentially as a 'temp agency' for non-profit and civic agencies that need short-term volunteer help, which enables our members to sample a wide variety of volunteer work with no long-term commitment to any one organization. In addition to the many volunteer events our members may sign up for, we also offer many social and educational events. We also hold monthly meetings in various interesting locations throughout the city, featuring a short talk from a guest speaker as well as announcements and opportunities to sign up for our events. Our membership is very diverse, ranging in age from 21 to 70+, and including everything from young singles to empty-nester couples. It's an excellent way to make new friends and learn your way around town (even if you've lived here all your life!) all while helping worthwhile causes. There's something for everyone in Ambassadors, so if this sounds interesting to you, just email our membership director or join us at our next meeting! Or, if you're involved in an organization that needs volunteers, refer to the 'Need Volunteers?' menu to the left to learn how to make a request.
Indianapolis Ambassadors provides many unique opportunities to its members:
  • Volunteer at charity fundraisers ranging from golf outings to black-tie dinners, where you might find yourself chatting with the Mayor or working an auction with local sports figures.
  • Serve as ushers at various theatrical performances, then stay and enjoy the show.
  • Serve as timekeepers and course marshals at charity runs/walks, or work the finish line at the Mini Marathon.
  • Work with children at places such as Riley Hospital and The Children's Museum.
  • Help the United Christmas Service process the thousands of letters from families in need of Christmas assistance.
  • Escort a band, float, or balloon in the 500 Festival Parade.
  • Help serve dinner to the homeless.
  • Explore the many cultural, recreational, and educational resources available in Indianapolis, learn about Indianapolis' growth, history, and heritage, and - definitely - learn your way around town.
  • Take pride in helping community organizations and institutions to grow and prosper.
  • Meet other motivated, involved, and concerned people.
